Outasight Shower Screens FAQ's

The Outasight shower screen is the ideal alternative to traditional methods of overbath shower protection. It is neat & unobtrusive and allows for a large showering area when open, but can be neatly stowed away in the casing - ideal for smaller bathrooms where the feeling of space is important.

Outasight Shower Screens FAQ's

1: Does the OUTASIGHT go mouldy?

No, the curtain material is specially treated to prevent mould. The curtain has a special finish which means any soap scum or mould is only sat on the curtains surface and can be washed off easily. Although the curtain can be put away wet we would recommend leaving open to dry where possible. To keep the screen in the best condition we would also advise an occasional use of a bleach-free Mould & Mildew cleaning spray. Please note, there are also Mould & Mildew sprays available which do contain bleach (like Dettol Mould & Mildew), but these are not recommended by Outasight as they may over time cause discolouration or possibly damage the protective film on the curtain (although we have not noticed any adverse issues from personal experience!). Outasight also sell their own brand of cleaning spray (approx £15 per bottle).

2: Does the OUTASIGHT leak?

No, the soft pleated material of the curtain sits just inside the rim of the bath and this causes the water to run straight down inside the bath. Actually the higher the water pressure is the more the curtain seals against the bath!!

3: How does the OUTASIGHT fit to the wall and how easy is it to install?

The screen is very easy to install and can be done in a short period of time. A full set of fitting instructions is included with the OUTASIGHT. The unit sits on the bath so the weight is well supported and so the unit only needs fixing with silicone to the wall. The fixing screws are there as a precaution only and should never be over tightened as this distorts the shape of the casing and may also stop it from closing properly. The OUTASIGHT only weighs 3.3Kg.

4: What colours are the OUTASIGHT produced in?

There is only one colour for the curtain which is white but the casing can be ordered in a polished aluminum or power coated gloss white finish.

5: Can the OUTASIGHT be used on corner baths?

The current model of the OUTASIGHT is designed to be used on a straight bath but it is possible to fit one over a corner bath. The resulting shower area available using an OUTASIGHT is still quite large but would be smaller than that offered by a shower curtain or bath shower screen.
The overall suitability of this type of installation will depend on the size and shape of the bath in question - offset corner baths work better than standard corner baths. Contact the sales office to discuss your particular application.

6: Are spare curtains available?

Yes, a full range of replacement parts, including curtains, are available. It is very simple to replace a curtain and can be changed in a matter of minutes. We only sell the spare curtains here, but if you need any other spare parts we can provide the manufacturers telephone number who will be able to provide anything else you need.

7: Can you fit the OUTASIGHT on either end of the bath?

Yes, the OUTASIAGHT can be fitted to both ends of the bath

8: I have a wet room, but the shape and size of the room means that some area’s of my bathroom  gets wet when showering, would OUTASIGHT be usable as a free hanging curtain?

Yes, the OUTASIGHT works very well as a free hanging screen in such an application.

9: I have young children, what happens if they grab hold of the curtain?

No problem, the health and safety design aspect of the unit means the curtain assembly simply pops out of the casing if pulled on too hard. It is then a simple matter of re-inserting the curtain assembly back into the casing.

10: I have not heard of the product before how long has it been on the market for?

The OUTASIGHT has been sold across the UK and Europe now for many years.

11: How big is the OUTASIGHT?

The closed box is 1400mm high x 63mm wide x 50mm deep
When extended the box is 1425mm x 1472mm high

12: Can the OUTASIGHT be used by lesser abled customers?

Absolutely. Feedback from our lesser abled customers has been very positive and has highlighted the benefit of the OUTASIGHT system compared to traditional shower curtains and doors in these applications.
